Drapes
2021
This project explores foundational draping techniques through direct experimentation on the mannequin.
Working in calico, I focused on understanding how fabric interacts with the body, studying balance, volume, and natural fall. Each drape experiment allowed me to explore different neckline treatments, structural lines, and silhouettes, strengthening my understanding of form, proportion, and garment construction at an early stage of my fashion education.
This project focused on understanding essential sewing and construction techniques used in garment production. Through hands-on experimentation, I explored fabric handling, seam finishes, attachments, and functional detailing. The process emphasised accuracy, durability, and practicality, allowing me to gain a clearer understanding of how construction decisions affect both the structure and usability of a finished product.
ITE Final Year Project
2021
This final year project was developed in response to an Olympic-themed brief, where I designed a capsule collection inspired by Taekwondo. I chose Taekwondo for its strong sense of discipline, structure, and movement, as well as its cultural ties to Korea, which allowed me to explore both philosophy and textile expression within my designs. The collection translates the sport’s emphasis on precision and control through clean silhouettes, structured lines, and directional details inspired by kicking movements.
Traditional Taekwondo belt colours were incorporated into the garments through woven bias tape detailing along collars, hems, and shorts, serving as both a visual accent and symbolic reference. By combining Korean-inspired elements with the philosophy of Taekwondo, the final pieces balance concept, craftsmanship, and wearability.
